Song of the Week- Michael Jordan

It's time for Song of the Week. This week the song I have selected is Michael Jordan by Five for Fighting. The song appeared on Five for Fighting's America Town album from 2000. The album probably more know for the song Superman (It's Not Easy) and Easy Tonight.

The song reminds me of the old 'I Wanna be like Mike' Gatorade ad campaign albeit taken to the next level.

I've always felt the album was a gem with this song right in the middle of it. There isn't an official video for the song but this video was done well and is at the very least entertaining.

New PVP Companion Pets

I'm totally loving the new PVP companion pets. They just follow you around like a cuddly puppy. The best part is unlike our normal companion pets we can kill these ones.  The Jackfrostin pet from Stormreaver has been my personal favorite. He waited while my fellow lock friend Tenebrefigo and I took down 4 of his friends, cap the farm, and then kill him. Sweet times. It took us a little while to realize Bowmee from Tichondrius was a battleground companion pet as well cuz he liked to stand at a distance.

Thanks botters. We're really enjoying the new Horde Battleground Companion Pets. I'm sure the Horde feels the same away about the Alliance versions. Normally I don't mind bots. They make things on the auction cheaper and easy to flip a profit. In BG's they sadly play better than many players but these new ones are great since they don't attack or heal anything they are easy to report AFK and have removed.

You can't see Tenebrefigo and I since I had to scroll down to find the pets.

Green Fire

I finally got my green fire. I'm sure I'll complain about it more in detail later but it was a big challenge and for sure made me an even better lock player.

Well played Blizzard. Well played.

Song of the Week- Everlong

It's time for Song of the Week. This week song is Everlong and comes from the 1997 Foo Fighters album The Color and the Shape. Before I get to far I will say that I am a Dave Grohl fanboy and this song never gets old. I also will not that he has been in a lot of music videos where someone is cross dressing.

Dave wrote this song after the initial sessions for The Color and the shape where completed. To me at least is about the deep love and bond you can have with someone.

Also worth checking out is the the accoustic version which was released on the Foo Fighters Greatest Hits.

It's All in the Wrapping

This past week for my packaging class we were assigned to redesign the classic Hershey's Milk Chocolate wrapper and turn it into a self promotional item that we could give to prospective interviewers after interviewing for a job. I found it funny that his would be our assignment the week after someones chocolate bar resume went viral. This had already been part of the syllabus so it an attempt to copy that story.
This picture is slightly different than the one we were supposed to redesign.
The design itself was quite easy to do. I was able to find an Hershey's font called Hurshey's which resembled that Hershey's logo closely enough. The Milk Chocolate font below the logo was problematic as I could never find one that was in the same style so I settled on using Kefa for that. The nutrition information parts were simple as well though I didn't have access to the correct Helvetica Black font for parts of it so had to modify one of the Helvetica fonts I had. Overall I am pretty happy with what I did on the project.

My Design which can be found on my Deviantart account
The final part of the assignment required us to print the wrapper and then put it on a candy bar. When looking at Walmart (which I try to avoid) there was not one Hershey's chocolate bar anywhere in the store. I soon checked a few gas stations and found the same thing. Lots of Hershey's bar but instead of the classic wrapping it is now enclosed in the plastic wrapping found on most other chocolate bars.

After a little research online I found that Hershey's had changed their packaging all the way back in 2003. I guess that goes to show how much I buy candy. I ended up purchasing one of the bars wrapped in plastic and covered it with foil to complete the assignment.

I remember when I was a kid that a Hershey's bar was different then getting any of the other chocolate bars. The packaging made it seem special. I could also wrap the chocolate back up if I didn't want to eat the whole thing. Now that it is wrapped in plastic it is just another bar of chocolate on the shelf. There is nothing special about it anymore.

Song of the Week- Cut Me Some Slack

This weeks song of the week comes to us from a couple of rock legends, Paul McCartney and the surviving members of Nirvana; Krist Novoselic, Dave Grohl, and Pat Smear. The later 2 also of the Foo Fighters. Pat Smear served as Nirvana's touring guitarist and also appeared on Nirvana Unplugged which I highly recommend, it being my favorite Nirvana album.

This song made is debut at the 12-12-12 concert in NY for hurricane victims this past December. I really dug that performance. The song has a big Helter Skelter vibe and could find itself at home on any Nirvana album. Great blend of talent. I for one would love to see an EP or even an LP in the vein of Them Crooked Vultures.

This song will be released next week on Sound City soundtrack from Dave Grohl's critically acclaimed Documentary about Sound City Studios. That album looks to be shaping up to have a killer track list. Check it next week on the 12th.

Song of the Week- Teenage Riot

Once again it's time for Song of the Week. I apologize for the delay since the last one. I had it prepared but didn't set it to que correctly.

This weeks Song of the Week comes to us by way of one of my favorite bands, The Sonic Youth. Teenage Riot features on their 1988 album Daydream Nation. For those of us who used to rock out on plastic guitars it Teenage Riot also appeared in Rock Band 2.
